Despite Perth holding onto the summer weather for longer than expected, the city is finally in for some wet and rainy autumn days.

Temperatures have remained high for the last few months, but conditions are set to change later this week.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a shower or two on Thursday before temperatures drop to below 20C on Friday.

Meteorologist Jess Lingard said the change in weather is due to two cold fronts passing through the south of WA.

The first, coming Monday, will bring light rains to the South West and chilly mornings to the metropolitan area.

The second cold front will occur later in the week, bringing with it higher chances of rain.

“It will arrive looking like a stronger and more significant system… likely to bring with it some higher rainfall totals as well,” Ms Lingard said.

“For the metro area we’re going to continue to see some light showers… we will also see some significantly cooler temperatures.”

The showers will continue throughout the weekend with temperatures in the mid to high teens.
