Several “high-based” thunderstorms are set to lash parts of WA in the coming hours.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 2.53pm, warning residents in parts of the Pilbara and Gascoyne to prepare for wild and windy conditions.

“A number of high-based thunderstorms have initiated in the western Pilbara and are moving quickly to the west-southwest,” the alert read.
