Green energy opportunities will top the agenda of a trade mission to South Korea led by WA Energy and Decarbonisation Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson.

Ms Sanderson flies out today to meet major industry partners, including POSCO, Samsung C&T and LX International, to promote the State’s energy transition, and discuss investment and collaboration opportunities in battery manufacturing, green iron and steel and transmission infrastructure development.

South Korea is WA’s third largest trading partner.

“Our drive to decarbonise and diversify our economy as we make WA a renewable energy powerhouse offers opportunities for our trading neighbours including South Korea,” Ms Sanderson said.

“We are looking to forge new and beneficial partnerships in areas including green steel, green ammonia, and Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage.

“Our State is ready to showcase its world-class capabilities. South Korea’s expertise and investment will play a key role in driving our clean energy transition.”

The visit will build on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in September 2024 between the State Government and South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The MOU focuses on collaboration in clean energy, critical minerals, renewable hydrogen and industrial decarbonisation.

The Minister will also promote the upcoming Energy Exchange Australia 2026 conference to be held in Perth in March.
