West Coast will feature in the final match of the AFL’s home-and-away season for the first time in almost a decade, with the Eagles shunted into Sunday timeslots to close out their campaign.

It comes as the league confirmed Fremantle’s Saturday finale against Carlton as the highly-anticipated schedules for the year’s final two rounds was released.

As flagged in recent days, the Dockers will host a Friday night fixture on August 14 against Adelaide, before closing out what is likely to be a minor premiership campaign with a Saturday 11.15am start (WA time) against the Blues in Melbourne.

The Eagles will close out the last of four consecutive Sunday fixtures to end their season against GWS on the road in round 23 and then Hawthorn at Optus Stadium on August 23.

That match will mark the first time West Coast have played in the home-and-away season’s final fixture since their farewell to Subiaco Oval against Adelaide in 2017.

Elsewhere in the fixture, the MCG will host a rare double-header in round 23, when Richmond and St Kilda do battle in the afternoon before a night clash between Hawthorn and Collingwood.

The final day of round 24 may be devoid of drama, with only three - and potentially just two - of the six teams in action in the finals hunt. Essendon and Port Adelaide open the Sunday, before Sydney host North Melbourne leading into the Eagles-Hawks clash.

The Roos may already be mathematically eliminated from the wildcard hunt by that stage, with current 10th-placed side St Kilda opening the round on the Thursday night with a home clash against Gold Coast.
