Bodycam footage emerges from Hawthorn pair Dylan Moore and Connor Macdonald’s US arrest

Bodycam footage documenting the moment Hawthorn players Dylan Moore and Connor Macdonald were arrested by US police has emerged.

7NEWS Melbourne’s Mitch Cleary revealed exclusively last week that the Hawks pair had spent a night in an Arizona jail after getting caught trespassing on a cherry picker late at night while on an off-season training camp in November.

Scottsdale Police have now released the footage, showing Moore and Macdonald pleading with police to let them get an Uber home as they are being handcuffed.

In the video, Moore is pictured atop the cherry picker speaking with a police officer, who tells him he’s “under arrest for trespassing because it’s not your property”.

“So, we didn’t know that,” someone can be heard responding to the officer.

“You didn’t know this wasn’t yours?” the officer responds, before repeating the question again after he is told “no”.

“Well, we saw a random thing, and we said...” the Australian voice says, before the officer interjects: “OK, but you didn’t know this wasn’t yours?”

“Yeah, we didn’t know,” he replies.

Another Australian man can be heard laughing as Moore and Macdonald are handcuffed.

“If you walk up on me, you’re going to go to jail as well,” another officer tells him.

Moore and Macdonald are then sat down with their hands behind their backs and asked for identification, which the police retrieve from their pockets.

“What’s the go with trespassing? So like, that, what we were standing on, what’s the deal with that?” one of them asks the officers while they change his handcuffs.

An officer responds: “It’s not your property and a security guard was there telling you guys to get off.

“He’s the legal custodian of that property right now, so because he told you guys to get off and you didn’t, that’s immediate trespassing.”

“Right,” the player responds.

The police are gathering the small belongings of the Hawthorn players when a small plastic bag drops onto the ground.

“That was not mine,” one of the players can be heard saying.

“It just came out of your pocket. That’s going to be evidence as well,” an officer responds

Moore initially faced a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia but that charge was dropped.

In the aftermath of the incident, Moore was stripped of his Hawthorn vice-captaincy.

Speaking exclusively to 7NEWS last week, Moore came clean on the regrettable mistake.

“I was in the US, I was out having a few drinks, and made a foolish mistake, decided to get on a scissor lift and next thing I know the cops are there telling me to get off, and I got off, and next thing I know I’m in police custody,” Moore told 7NEWS.

“It’s something that I’ll always regret. A foolish mistake has led to a night in a jail cell and many regrets.”

Asked what was going through his head in the moment, he said: “I felt a bit of disappointment, regret, stress, anxiety.

“I was in a cell overnight not knowing if my friends and family knew in Australia.

“It was all just disappointment and fear of what they’re going to think.”

He said he made immediate contact with the club following the incident.

“It was direct communication with the footy club straight away. They were firm but so supportive to me. The last four months communication has been really steady,” he said.
