Fremantle Dockers champion reportedly set to replace Matthew Pavlich on All Australian selection panel

David Mundy has reportedly replaced his former Fremantle teammate Matthew Pavlich on the All Australian selection panel. Pavlich had served on the body for the last three years but stepped down after joining Sydney as chief executive at the end of the 2025 season, meaning a replacement needed to be found. And the AFL have reportedly opted to replace one Dockers champion with another, appointing Mundy to the panel. Mundy is Fremantle’s all-time games-played record holder, making 376 appearances for the club before calling time on his legendary career at the end of the 2022 season. He was himself named an All Australian in 2015, captained the Dockers in 2016 and is also the owner of both a Doig Medal and a Ross Glendinning Medal. Since retiring, he has established himself in the media and won the Brian Thirley Best Expert Commentator award at last year’s WA Football Media Guild Awards. Glen Jakovich, who served as WA’s chairman of selectors in AFL Origin, is also a member of the All Australian selection panel, which is chaired by AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon. Nathan Buckley will also need to be replaced from last year’s group, with the Collingwood champion joining Geelong as an assistant coach over the off-season.
