Harrower out as Lightning, Capitals trumpet re-signings

Southside Melbourne Flyers have parted ways with Kristi Harrower despite the former Opals point guard leading her team to the WNBL semi-finals.
Having mentored the Flyers for the past two seasons, the club announced on Thursday that the coach's contract wouldn't be renewed.
Harrower nearly guided her club to an upset victory over premiers Townsville in February, having forced a game three in their semi-final series.
The three-time WNBL championship player was known for her truth serums and explosive press conferences, which players credited for transforming their side.
"We thank Kristi for her contribution to the Flyers and wish her every success in her ongoing head coaching role in NBL1 and into the future," Flyers owner Gerry Ryan said.
The announcement comes after Adelaide announced coach Aja Parham-Ammar will continue for another two seasons.
Parham-Ammar took over at the Lightning in November after Kerryn Mitchell was surprisingly sacked.
Since joining, she picked up three wins and helped Adelaide narrowly avoid the competition's wooden spoon.
"The Adelaide Lightning is a special club with a championship legacy, and I feel grateful to be given the opportunity to return to the team," Parham-Ammar said.
"Our top priority is building a roster that truly embodies the Lightning's culture and values, creating an environment where player development is front and centre."
Elsewhere, the UC Capitals re-signed their first player ahead of next season, with breakout star Nyadiew Puoch inking a two-year deal.
The 21-year-old filled the shoes of Sara Blicavs after the Opals' mid-season move to China and averaged 14.3 points and five rebounds per game across the final 11 matches of the season.
"I'm looking forward to continuing to get better and hopefully win a championship," Puoch said.
"Being at the Caps for my second season now, I feel like Goz (Paul Goriss) has coached me my whole life."
The competition's free agency period is expected to get underway in early April.
