Kings 'easily' NBL's best team: Bullets coach

Sydney's 95-70 thrashing of Brisbane has reiterated the Kings are "easily" the NBL's best team, says Bullets coach Darryl McDonald.
Tuesday night's big home win confirmed a six-game winning streak, the longest in the NBL currently and the Kings' longest since their 2022/23 championship season.
Big names Xavier Cooks (20 points, five rebounds) and Kendric Davis (14 points, seven assists) starred in the latest triumph, with Sydney finally delivering consistently on the potential of their star-studded roster.
After going into quarter time up by nine points, the Kings began the second term on an 11-2 run and never looked likely being chased down after that.
Their lead ballooned to 31 points in the third quarter before coach Brian Goorjian began putting his stars on ice.
Sydney looked almost unstoppable in transition, locked down the paint far better than the Bullets and had many more scoring threats in their starting five.
The Kings have won their last three games by at least 20 points each, last achieving that feat in the 2005 grand final series.
"Right now they they are easily playing the best basketball in the league. Their pressure sped us up, turned us over and we struggled with it," said Bullets interim coach McDonald.
"They've got all the pieces that you need to win a championship."
Goorjian shrugged off the high praise from his rival mentor as the Kings jumped into third on the ladder.
"I'm worried about every game, I don't see it like that," he said.
"I like what's going on, I like where we're headed. I think the guys understand how we can be good."
Cooks reached 20 points for the third time in the Kings' past four games.
In one particularly memorable first-quarter play, the forward blocked ex-NBA player Alex Ducas before streaking away for a one-handed dunk in transition.
Cooks was fouled tipping into the basket in the final seconds of the first half, landing a free throw for a then-game high 21-point lead.
Gun American guard Davis was particularly lethal shooting from mid-range and led all comers for assists.
Brisbane are now 1-3 under McDonald and will slip to last on the ladder if Cairns upset South East Melbourne tomorrow.
The Bullets didn't help themselves on Tuesday, stepping out of bounds twice and giving up a crosscourt violation as part of 17 turnovers.
"Tough night. There's not a lot of positives. We did everything we said we wasn't going to do," McDonald said.
The mid-season arrival of Hunter Maldonado cannot come soon enough, with the American import's visa unable to be processed in time for the Sydney clash.
"He's going to add a lot to that because they've got some nice pieces. They just need one more in the back-court," Goorjian said.
A member of the Kings hype crew took a hard fall during the quarter time dance routine and was assisted into a wheelchair to leave the court.
First aid was administered to her backstage and she was standing upright by full-time.
