Ryan Petrik is determined to take care of unfinished business at the Perth Lynx, with the coach locking in a multi-year deal to remain with the WNBL club.
Petrik was rewarded for a stellar half-decade at the helm with a fresh contract, off the back of last season’s grand final near-miss.
It was the third time in five years that the coach had guided the Lynx to the championship decider, with Petrik saying he was driven by helping snap the club’s title drought that dates back to 1992.
“I’m grateful for the trust this club has placed in me, and proud of what our group continues to build,” Petrik said.
“While we’ve enjoyed sustained success on the court over a number of years, winning the final game of the season remains a major focus for us.
“At the same time, the club continues to go from strength to strength off the court, and I’m excited about what lies ahead.”
Lynx general manager Chris Earl said Petrik had shown he was more than capable of steering a title contender.

“His record over the past five years in particular - guiding us to three grand final series appearances - demonstrates not only his tactical strengths, but his ability to unite, develop and inspire this group,” he said.
“We firmly believe that Ryan is the coach to take us forward and ultimately deliver the championship success we are striving for.”
The Lynx last month secured the return of Sami Whitcomb to boost their championship hopes, with the star shooter set to combine with the likes of Anneli Maley and Alex Ciabattoni in what should again be a formidable line-up.
