Scorchers sign England international Mills
The Perth Scorchers have added some serious pace to their bowling stocks after signing England international Tymal Mills for the upcoming BBL season.
The Scorchers were left scrambling to find a third and final import after English paceman Brydon Carse suffered a serious knee injury last month just 24 hours after signing with Perth.
Mills, who has played nine T20 matches for England, jumped at the chance to sign with the Scorchers as Carse's replacement.
The 29-year-old will arrive in Sydney from the UAE on Monday, meaning he will miss at least the Scorchers' first two games due to quarantine rules.
Mills, who can reach speeds in excess of 150km/h, was an important part of England's recent Twenty20 World Cup campaign before being struck down by a thigh injury.
The left-arm speedster snared seven wickets at an average of 15.42 in his five appearances in the UAE and has flourished at the death of the innings.
"We're really excited about getting Tymal in after Brydon's unfortunate injury," Scorchers coach Adam Voges said.
"To be able to get someone of the calibre of Tymal - we saw the impact he had for England over in the World Cup and his last 12-24 months have been outstanding.
"He's a world-class performer, and he'll obviously be really important for us at the back end of the innings."
The Scorchers have also signed David Moody as a replacement for Test squad member Jhye Richardson.
Promising locals Nick Hobson and Cooper Connolly have also been added to the squad.
Perth's season begins next Wednesday against Brisbane Heat at Optus Stadium.
