Australian high diver Rhiannan Iffland has become the first person to win three consecutive world championship gold medals.

The 31-year-old led from start to finish in Wednesday's competition in Fukuoka, Japan.

Iffland's seven dives from the 20-metre platform included a perfect 10 and she logged a 9.0 on her final dive to clinch victory.

"I am super stoked ... there was a lot of pressure going into that last round," she said.

"But somebody told me last week that pressure is a privilege and that was the way I tried to approach that round.

"Just go for it and do what I know how to do."

Iffland's final score of 357.40 was 34.60 points ahead of Molly Carlson with another Canadian Jessica Macaulay (320.95) taking bronze.
