Seven Perth have boosted their local broadcast team with a Fremantle legend to add more star power to their dedicated West Australian AFL commentary line-up.

After delivering unrivalled local coverage, Seven Perth will once again deliver key WA match-ups throughout the 2026 season with a dedicated team to call matches live from the ground.

This season will be boosted by the inclusion of Michael ‘Sonny’ Walters, with the recently retired Dockers star joining the team.

“Having played alongside many of the current players, I know them well and have a good feel for how the game is played today,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing that insight to the broadcast and hopefully adding plenty of energy, excitement and positivity for the fans watching at home.”

Walters joins an already stacked roster, including Ben Cousins, Mark LeCras, Daisy Pearce and Shaun McManus, with Ryan Daniels, Mark Readings and Dani Shuey to lead the team.

“After an incredibly positive response from fans in our first year, we’re thrilled to bring back our dedicated WA commentary team in 2026.

“West Australian footy fans are extremely passionate about their teams, and they want to hear from commentators who truly understand the clubs, the players and the history of football in this state.

“The addition of Sonny Walters further strengthens what is already an outstanding lineup of passionate, knowledgeable WA football voices.”

To kick off the season, Seven Perth’s commentary team will be travelling to the Gold Coast for West Coast’s Round One clash with the Gold Coast SUNS on Sunday with pre-game coverage from 2.30pm on 7mate and 7plus Sport and the match live and free from 3pm on Seven and 7plus sport.
