Pat Voss produced a scintillating second-term performance to achieve a Fremantle feat not seen for 18 years - and let supporters at his former club know all about it.

Voss ran riot as the Dockers put Essendon to the sword, booting four goals in the second quarter to set up the visitors’ massive 52-point advantage at half-time.

He became the first Freo player since Matthew Pavlich in 2007 to kick four majors in a term at the home of football - and helped his team set up their biggest-ever half-time advantage there in the process.

And in typical Voss style, he wasn’t shy about celebrating after putting the ball through the big sticks.

Voss puffed out his jumper to the crowd after one major, and held his arms aloft for an extended period after another before being met with resistance by Essendon’s Sam Durham.

But the forward who was delisted by the Bombers at the end of 2023 saved his best for last, with a pinpoint set-shot from the MCG’s north-east pocket coming on the stroke of the half-time siren.

As he turned to the pro-Essendon crowd to celebrate, one Bombers fan produced a middle finger as she came to grips with the one-sided half of footy.

The four-goal first-half haul already marked Voss’ second-biggest effort in any full game of his career, behind only the six he booted against Collingwood at the same venue last season.

The masterclass made it academic that Fremantle would match their club-best nine-match winning streak as they continue to pile pressure on Sydney at the top of the AFL ladder.
