West Coast have taken one final shot at cross-town rivals Fremantle just moments before the western derby with a cheeky banner.

The Eagles head in as massive underdogs for derby 63 at Optus Stadium on Friday night, but the confidence of the fan base was high ahead of the game.

And it involved a jab at both the Dockers captain Alex Pearce and second-year superstar Murphy Reid.

“There’s Captain Tassie and the other Reid. To send them packing would be a ladder deed,” the banner read.

The reference to Tasmania was clearly a shot at Pearce, who comes from the Apple Isle and has been persistently linked to a move to the 19th club which is set to be introduced in 2028.

Pearce is out of contract at the end of next season and would be the ideal first skipper for the Devils who have just announced their inaugural coach in Ken Hinkley.

Meanwhile, the Reid debate has raged for the past 18 months with fans wondering who has the better player with the last name – West Coast or Fremantle.

For the Eagles they have Harley Reid who has delivered on the incredible expectations on his head even before he was drafted with pick No.1 in 2023.

However, Murphy Reid has been equally as impressive at the Dockers, winning the Rising Star Award last year and is in contention for an All-Australian berth in his second season.

Fremantle are not only three games clear on top of the ladder but have won nine of the past 10 western derbies including the last encounter earlier this year.
