Co-leaders Jim Knous and Maverick McNealy are two shots clear of the chasing pack heading into the final round of the PGA Tour event in Napa, California.

Knous fired a seven-under 65 on Saturday to vault up the leaderboard after 54 holes while McNealy signed a 70 to maintain his place at the top after leading solo at the half-way mark.

The pair are tied at 14-under 202, with five players tied for third at the Silverado Resort and Spa North Course.

Max Homa (65), Scott Stallings (67), Troy Merritt (69), Beau Hossler (70) and Chile's Mito Pereira (70) are at 12 under while Talor Gooch (66) is eighth a shot further back.

Ten others, including Phil Mickelson (67), are at 10 under.

Aaron Baddeley is best of the Australian contingent with a four-under 68 on moving day leaving him at 9 under and five shots off the pace.

Marc Leishman matched his compatriot's score on Saturday to be 8 under while Cameron Percy (72) is 4 under.

McNealy birdied his final three holes to climb back into the lead after a rough front nine.

"It was a crazy day," McNealy, who like Knous is seeking his first PGA Tour win, said.

Knous, on the other hand, recorded six birdies on the front nine en route to eight overall in his round.

"Especially a nice putt on the last, that was a bonus. Just played solid, just stayed patient, kind of let the course come to me," he said.

Mickelson, the 51-year-old PGA Championship, had his best round of the tournament and made five consecutive birdies on the back nine.

"Yeah, it was a good way to finish," Mickelson said.

"I hit some good shots, I had a lot of chances early on and made a couple of putts that I haven't been making throughout the week, or poor strokes.

"And then the back nine I made a lot."
