Flying filly Revitup bolted to a four-length win over 400m at Monday’s Lark Hill barrier trials and should be hard to beat when tackling two-year-old events in final meetings of Perth’s autumn carnival.

The Dion Luciani-trained bay, who clocked 23.92sec., looks back to form she showed when winning three Ascot races from four starts before going for a spell last December.

“Revitup’s trial indicates she’ll quickly get back into the business of winning races,” Luciani’s assistant trainer Ian Glading said. “She returned in top order from the break. Today, she pulled up as good as gold.”

Jockey Brad Parnham shot Revitup to a clear lead in early stages of her heat on Monday and rivals were left floundering.

Bopping Blue, who came down the track centre and impressively won over 400m in 24.19 for jockey Clint Johnston-Porter, will be patiently handled by trainer Adam Durrant.

“I’ll give another trial before he races,” Durrant said. “It could be a few weeks before his first-up start.”

Unraced two-year-old Rear Admiral drew attention with a front running win 950m in 58.78 when not fully extended by jockey Bonnie Palaise.

“Rear Admiral is among the top shelf in our team of youngsters.” co-trainer Casey said. “He’s been thoroughly schooled and is right to begin racing.”

The Casey-trained Laverrod pulled up well after a third behind Elite Street in Sunday’s Northam Stakes (1100m) and will contest the Roma Cup (1200m) at Belmont Park on Saturday week.

TOP PROSPECTS

Trainer Michael Granthan is confident well-bred maiden Pierra Art will be primed to show sharply improved race form after her four-length trial win over 950m in 57.53.

Ridden by Lucy Warwick, the filly narrowly led smart opposition on straightening and then accelerated powerfully when asked for an effort about 150m from home.

Pierra Art, sired by prominent NSW stallion Pierro, is a daughter of WA Champion Fillies’ Stakes winner Art Series.

“The trial confirms Pierra Art is better than when she ran last at her only start, early this year,” Grantham said. “She was found to be shinsore after the race. The filly travelled well today.

“This time in, I plan to start her first-up in a provincial race, probably at Pinjarra.”

Grantham also won heats on Monday with quality three-year-old Devoted and promising stayer Dark Lass, who were ridden by Patrick Carbery. Devoted clocked 56.29 over 950m and Dark Lass ran 1450m in 1min:31.26.

Kaptain Kaos, a Northam Cup winner for Grantham, was a fast-finishing fourth after being blocked in a 950m heat. The gelding will be a first-up Roma Cup starter.

READY TO WIN

Speedy youngster Grey Mistress ran an eye-catching fourth in her 950m heat and shaped as yet another prospect to maintain trainer Dan Morton’s winning streak.

Morton, successful in weekend races with Top Of The Pops, Otheronesun and Elite Street, was at Lark Hill to watch the Sessions filly Grey Mistress.

“She trialled good,” the trainer said. “I think she’s ready to race.”

Cruisey Roy, who won Grey Mistress’ trial, clocked 58.21 and he displays abundant potential for trainer Holly Taylor.

A smart team has been established by Taylor, who also won 950m trials with Digital Miss (57.63) and Bigspider (58.51).

Pinjarra trainer Brett Pope landed a 950m trials quartet, winning with Gates Of Babylon (55.93), She’s Enchanted (57.34), Kamarshall (57.48) and Luna Nobel (57.82).

Street Wise Red, trained by former jockey Ryan Hill, won a 400m heat in 23.89.

Santa Brae, the namesake of a 1970s Kalgoorlie star, ran an impressive fifth over 950m for trainer Ross Price.

Unraced two-year-old Lord Randolph, a Churchill gelding trained by Lindsey Smith, was a 950m winner in 58.15.
