Player Profiles: Get to know every West Coast Fever player ahead of 2024 season

Caitlin Bassett runs an eye over West Coast Fever’s 11-player roster ahead of their 2024 season launching on Saturday. Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard Age: 34 Position: GS At 198cm tall the Jamaican captain has been the spearhead of the Fever’s attack since 2018. Her strength and ability to dominate any match-up makes her virtually unstoppable and she holds the league record for most goals scored in a game (70). This season her game will be bolstered further by Sunshine Girls teammate and shooting partner Shanice Beckford. Shanice Beckford Age: 28 Position: GA/GS Tenacious and crafty the Jamaican goal attack is set to make a huge impact in her debut year. Her speed and ball movement will be key to shifting the defence and her ability to sink the long range shots makes her dangerous during the power-five. Her athleticism and no-fear attitude will no doubt make her a fan favourite. Olivia Wilkinson Age: 20 Position: GS/GA Tall, athletic and accurate the young Victorian shooter is tipped as a future superstar of the game. Her ability to play across both shooting positions gives the Fever extra versatility up front, sharing the circle with two experienced Jamaicans will give her plenty of confidence in her debut season. Alice Teague-Neeld Age: 28 Position: WA/GA Part of the 2022 Premiership the Fever vice captain is a work horse in the attacking end regularly topping the league for most centre pass receives and circle feeds. Her energy and experience is crucial in the teams new attacking line her ability to play in goals provides coach Dan Ryan numerous options. Kelsey Browne Age: 32 Position: C/WA After failing to secure a contract after the demise of her former club the Collingwood Magpies, Fever offered a lifeline for the dynamic midcourter off the back of a shock departure of Verity Simmons to AFLW. The two time premiership player has incredible pace and her ability to seamlessly move the ball out of defence to attack will be an important feature in her new role at centre. Jordan Cransberg Age: 24 Position: C/WA/WD A former training partner the enormous potential of this athletic midcourter has earnt her a full time contract in 2024. Her vision and ability to read the play is elite and her versatility to cover three different positions make her a very handy player to have in the team. Jess Anstiss Age: 27 Position: WD/C DOB: 20/11/1996 The captain is the ultimate team player and has been a stalwart of the club with 101 games to her name since her debut in 2017. Her gritty shut down defence and willingness to put her body on the line means she often comes up with match winning intercepts, her safe hands and cool head is vital when the pressure is on. Sunday Aryang Age: 23 Position: GD/WD The Australian Diamonds has both Commonwealth and World Cup gold medals to her name and will look to step up as the only remaining defender from last years team. Her ability to wear down her player and clean defensive skills along with her ability to hunt the ball makes her a formidable opponent. Kadie-Ann Dehaney Age: 27 Position: GK/GD The 192cm defender will bring plenty of intensity to the Fever defence end in her first season since moving from the Sunshine Coast Lightning. Her incredible athleticism, reach and timing on the shot sees her get in the head of her opponent and regularly reject shots. She will be brimming with confidence alongside her Jamaican teammates in the green dress this season. Fran Williams Age: 26 Position: GD/GK Making her Suncorp Super Netball debut this year the English Rose is keen to take her game to the next level against the worlds best shooters each week. Her footwork and ability to wear down her opponent will be important against a moving circle and her versatility to play cover both positions will be key as the Fever look to exploit the talents of their defensive end. Ruth Aryang Age: 19 Position: GK/GD As Fever’s 11th player the rangy defender will no doubt see court time, her combination with sister Sunday is already an exciting prospect for the future of the club. Rangy, athletic and mobile she has the ability to cover both height and movement in the circle, opportunities at league level will only see her game grow.
