The Jonas Brothers have won over a packed MCG with a surprise tribute to Australian music icon John Farnham during the historic NFL clash in Melbourne.

The band — made up of brothers Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas — launched into Farnham’s iconic anthem You’re The Voice as part of their halftime performance during the blockbuster between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams on Friday.

The unexpected nod to the Aussie icon drew a huge response from the Melbourne crowd, with thousands joining in for the instantly recognisable chorus.

Before the surprise tribute, the brothers opened their stunning performance with fan favourite Burnin’ Up, before launching into Sucker and then Year 3000.

The performance came as Australia hosted its first regular-season game, with the event drawing a crowd of an estimated 100,000.

Just before the halftime show, 49ers tight end Jake Tonges was forced off the field during the second quarter due to a knee injury.

Gruesome footage shows Tonges falling to the grass as Rams defensive end Myles Garrett dodges his tackle.

Tonges’ right leg makes contact with Garrett’s left, causing a brutal impact to the tight end’s knee.

It is believed Tonges attempted to limp off the field, before medical staff rushed to assist.

He has not returned to the field after half time.
