West Coast Fever have celebrated the netball return of Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard with an epic mural in the heart of Perth.

Fowler-Nebhard made her return to the sport in the Fever’s win over rivals Melbourne Vixens and will play in front of home fans for the first time this season against Sunshine Coast Lightning on Saturday evening.

The five-time Super Netball player-of-the-year was set to miss the entire season after falling pregnant with her second child late last year, but tragically had a miscarriage in January.

She then completed a mini pre-season and led the Fever to their first victory of the season on Sunday.

The 12-metre mural, which faces Wellington Street in the city’s CBD and is just around the corner from the club’s RAC Arena home, features an image of Fowler-Nembhard with her arms outstretched and the words “The GOAT”, referencing her status as the team’s greatest-ever player.

The artwork — created by Mural Media’s Michael Betts — will be in place for the remainder of the season.

Fowler-Membhard was with husband Ashani and her daughter Drehannah when the piece was unveiled this week.

The star shooter scored 59 goals in the Fever’s 67-57 victory and was seen smiling on court. Coach Dan Ryan said that was the most important aspect of her return.

“She loved it, and I think that’s the most important thing. We all said to Jhaniele at the start of the game ‘this is about getting out there and doing what you love’,” he said.

“She hasn’t missed a beat, she looks amazing and I just love seeing the confidence that she instils in everyone that she plays with.
