Is Facebook down?: Social media website Facebook suffers major global outage on desktop devices

Thousands of Facebook users have been blocked from accessing their accounts on the social media network’s desktop website.

The issue was first reported just after 3.30pm Sunday.

Bizarrely, the network’s phone application was working as usual.

The issue seemed to be affecting users across the world.

Down Detector registered more than 3000 complaints as of 4pm Sunday, with countless others posting their grievances elsewhere across the internet.

The site was finally restored hours later.
