How seeking & sharing can make a great (and intrepid) company
More travellers are looking for community-focused travel and rich experiences.
And a spokesperson for Intrepid Travel says they also are seeking “disciplined operational performance and ongoing investment in people, impact and long-term growth”.
This comes as Intrepid Travel delivers the best result in its 37-year history. Despite the challenges of 2025, its bookings were up 26 per cent compared with the previous year (and worth $873.3m).
Its revenue was up 29 per cent ($809) — and it shared its success with its people, passing $10.7m in employee bonuses as cash and shares. Intrepid believes it should be owned by the people who run it, and the current employee shareholding has risen to 20 per cent.
The results are outlined in Intrepid’s 2025 integrated annual report.
+ It’s not-for-profit, The Intrepid Foundation contributed a record $3.4m to communities around the world — 42 per cent more than the previous year.
+ The report outlines its new, five-year impact strategy and new climate action plan, which includes a $2m annual climate impact fund from 2026 onwards for decarbonisation initiatives.
Intrepid’s CEO James Thornton says: “Our 2025 performance shows that it is possible to grow a resilient, profitable business while staying true to our values — even in the face of global uncertainty.
“At a time when the world is more divided than ever, I’m incredibly proud that more travellers are choosing to experience the world the Intrepid way.
“These results are testament to our team, who deliver exceptional experiences for our customers while creating positive impact for communities.”
Intrepid Travel has more than 900 trips and its own network of offices in 31 countries.
