Kalgoorlie-Boulder Visitor Centre has launched a new two-night travel package which includes the train trip from Perth to the Goldfields and back on the Prospector — the high-speed Transwa train that connects East Perth Terminal and Kalgoorlie Station.
The two-night, three-day package leaves Perth on Friday, December 4, 2026, and guests return home on Sunday, December 6. Prices start from $459 per person, twin share, based on senior Prospector fares and selected accommodation. A limited number of rooms are available.
The package is to experience the St Barbara’s Festival in Kalgoorlie from December 4 to 6, 2026, including reserved balcony viewing of its parade along Hannan Street.
The St Barbara’s Parade is on Sunday, December 6. Community groups, schools, mining companies and full-sized mining equipment make their way through the heart of Kalgoorlie — complete with a huge haul truck.
“Most people have never stood on Hannan Street and watched a haul truck cruise through the middle of town,” says Kalgoorlie-Boulder Visitor Centre manager Donna Malec.
“It is the sort of experience that makes you stop and realise just how big these machines are and how closely mining is connected to our community.”
Guests who buy the package will have a reserved seat on the balcony of the Kalgoorlie Hotel, giving an elevated view of the parade. And they have lunch before their return journey to Perth.
The weekend also includes:
+ A City Highlights Heritage Tram Tour aboard Ruby, a restored vintage tramcar.
+ An evening astronomy experience with Ningaloo Stars.
“One of the biggest barriers for people considering a short regional break is having to organise all the separate parts themselves,” Donna says.
“We have brought the train, accommodation, transfers, tours and parade experience together, so visitors can book once and enjoy the weekend.
“We want people to come to Kalgoorlie-Boulder and see something amazing.
“They will experience our mining history, our outback skies and a parade where a haul truck can roll straight down the main street. You simply do not see that everyday.”
+ The St Barbara’s Festival is one of regional WA’s biggest community events. It recognises St Barbara, the patron saint of miners, and celebrates the mining industry and the people and organisations that support the Goldfields community. Some 10,000 people attended in 2025.
