ANA 2025: Narrikup still undefeated after triumph over Kangas in hard-fought top of the table A1 clash

Narrikup 1 dealt Kangas 1 their first loss of the Albany Netball Association A1 season in round six at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre on Saturday, clinching the win by four goals. Narrikup claimed top spot on the ladder with a decisive fourth quarter after the Kangas fought their way back to contention through the third term to leave the scores level at 34 goals heading into the final quarter. Captain Rylee Davis and fellow shooter Courtney White helped Narrikup hit the lead with four of the first five goals in the last term as they went on to win, 48-44, to remain the only unbeaten team in the competition. Narrikup played a strong opening quarter, with shooting duo Te Paea Keremete and Davis pushing hard to create a five-goal lead by quarter time. They kept hold of that lead throughout the second, with Kangas’ defenders putting in the work but unable to stop Davis and Keremete from adding to their totals. Kangas hit back hard at the opening of the third, with Lily Gadean and Shanaya Weeden in the goal circle while Rachael Bradley and Kaitlyn Bradley were dynamic in mid-court to help turn the tide. Defenders Keely Berry and Sophie Panizza found their feet at the other end, lending a hand to slow Narrikup’s shooting and make the scoreboard even at three quarter time. However, Narrikup’s strong start in the fourth was enough to gain valuable breathing space on Kangas, going on to record a fifth win of the season. Railways 1 and Magpies 1 played out the first draw of the season. Railways led by one goal at half-time but Magpies drew level by three quarter time. The scoreboard stood even again with less than two minutes to go, and the teams went goal-for-goal until the final whistle, finishing at 50-all. Bullets 1 put on a dominant show with a 28-goal victory over Griffins 1 in Mt Barker. Griffins acted fast, scoring the first goal of the game, and stayed with Bullets throughout the first quarter. However, the Bullets dominated the second quarter, with Claire Holliday and Tamika Coyne shooting a combined 20 goals to open a big lead for Bullets. Griffins trailed by 17 at half-time and Bullets kept pushing through the third term, making it 45-24 with only the final quarter left to play, and continued their fierce style through to the final whistle to claim a confident win 58-30.
