Wine Show of WA returns to Albany’s Retravision Stadium with awards to recognise top talent

WA’s top wines and winemakers are set to return to Albany for this year’s Wine Show of WA in October, with entries now open for the industry’s top awards.

The 2025 VI Packaging Wine Show of WA showcases the State’s best wines and the winemakers, vineyards, and craftsmanship behind WA’s favourite labels.

Albany’s Retravision Stadium will play host to this year’s presentation dinner on October 17. The State’s best wines will be celebrated with this year’s prestigious awards and a classic three-course dinner.

Mt Barker’s Sounness Park will also play host to the annual exhibitors’ and trade tasting event earlier in the day, where the year’s exhibitors and members of the industry are invited to taste this year’s entries and winners.

A total of 24 trophies will be presented, with 35 classes open for entries, categorising wines by variety and year of production.

Awards include the VI Packaging trophy for best in show, the Winequip-Lallemand trophy for best white wine in show, the MCC Label trophy for best red in show, and the My Vintner trophy for most successful exhibitor overall.

The awards recognise the masters of each variety, as well as the outstanding quality of WA wines across regions, showcasing the dedication of WA’s winemakers in keeping WA’s wine industry among the most highly regarded in the country.

Entries opened on July 21, and will close on September 5, with judging taking place between October 14 and 16.

This year’s judging panel brings together a group of celebrated professionals from across the wine industry, including chief judge Andrew Spinaze, senior winemaker at Tyrrell Vineyards who will helm the judging panel for a third year, Goodman Wines founder Kate Goodman, wine writer Erin Larkin, and Idee Fixe operations manager Brendan Carr.
