Cause 4 Paws SAFE fundraiser returns to take over Matso’s this August

Broome’s favourite charity bash is back and it’s all in support of the furry, feathered and four-legged.
Cause 4 Paws, the annual fundraiser for SAFE Broome, will take over Matso’s on Friday August 9, with a full afternoon and evening of free entertainment, live music and community spirit.
There’ll be a bouncy castle and shark run from 1pm to 4pm, face painting from 2pm to 5pm, and a silent disco from 5pm to 7pm, followed by live music into the night.
Raffles, a silent auction and a live auction at 5.30pm will offer up a stack of prizes, with every cent raised going to SAFE Broome — a volunteer-run rescue group that rehomes more than 500 animals every year.
You’ll also be able to meet some of the animals in care.
Event organiser Abby Murray, who now lives in Busselton, has helped raise more than $100,000 for SAFE Broome over the years and will return north for the big day.
“Cause 4 Paws is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a day for the Broome community to come together in support of SAFE Broome and the animals who rely on us,” she said.
“With monthly vet bills of over $15,000, events like this are crucial to help us continue our rescue and rehoming work. Thanks to Matso’s Broome and generous local sponsors, this year’s event aims to raise $20,000.
“It’s a great opportunity to come along, meet our volunteers, and learn how you can make a difference.”
With Broome’s ever-changing population, AFE Broome Coordinator Sonya Debenham said foster carers are always in high demand.
“Finding new foster carers is a constant need, especially with Broome’s transient population. We also continue to see a high number of unwanted and stray animals needing help,” she said.
Cause 4 Paws is free to attend. For more information or to donate, head to the SAFE Broome Facebook page.
