Share the Dignity celebrates 20 years of helping vulnerable women access menstrual products

An Australian charity organisation that works to provide essential menstrual products to those in need has kicked off its 20th August Dignity Drive in Broome. Share the Dignity has set up donation boxes at a range of participating businesses, including all Woolworths supermarkets across the State. The organisation’s Bloody Big Survey recently found 56.76 per cent of respondents in Broome admitted they found it difficult to buy period products because of financial stress. Woolworths group manager Craig Brown said the business was proud to continue its partnership with Share the Dignity and support another Dignity Drive this month. “It’s always great to see so many of our Broome shoppers get involved with generous donations to help support those in need,” he said. “We might even turn out to be the store that hits the one-millionth donation, so thank you to everyone who gets involved.” Supporters can donate unopened period products and incontinence aids to the drive, which launched on August 1. Share the Dignity volunteer and “She-ro” Kylie Thompson said the drive had made a positive impact on the women in the community who weren’t able to afford necessary items. “When I deliver the items to the local charities, they are so grateful that it just makes their lives easier,” she said. “They know it’s going to help women who are struggling, and it’s just beautiful to be able to do that for someone.”
