UPDATES: Today is expected to be one of the most significant days of Yung Filly’s high-profile rape trial, with the UK rapper taking the witness stand.
After days of evidence from the complainant and other witnesses, the 30-year-old rapper - whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos - is giving evidence in his own defence on day six of his WA District Court trial.
The British man is accused of raping a young Perth fan following a gig at Bar1 Nightclub in Hillarys on September 28, 2024.
He has pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault causing bodily harm and one count of impeding someone’s normal breathing.

Cross-examination begins
State prosecutor Danielle Clarke has begun her cross-examination of Mr Barrientos.
Ms Clarke asked Mr Barrientos why he approached the complainant at Bar1 Nightclub, to which he replied: “I fancied her, she was attractive ... and pretty.”
He admitted he was attracted to her large breasts.
“If I was stood chatting to another person in the team, I would catch her staring at me ... I could tell she was into me,” he told the court.
Mr Barrientos denied he had any opportunity in the nightclub to squeeze the complainant’s breasts and put his hand down her pants.
He said he did not know that the complainant was younger than him.
Yung Filly denies rape and strangulation allegations
Mr Barrientos has denied strangling and slapping the complainant during sex.
He also denied telling the complainant to call herself “Yung Filly’s dirty whore” and a “fat pig”.
After sex, Mr Barrientos said the pair lay on his hotel bed and talked about his time in Perth.
When asked how the complainant’s demenour was, he replied: “Good, she’s actually got quite an amazing personality ... she seemed to enjoy my presence.”
And when asked whether he had any discussion with his security guard about the complainant’s sexual performance, Mr Barrientos said: “No, the sex was great.”
He said he ordered the complainant an Uber a short time later.
Yung Filly gives evidence about what allegedly happened in hotel room
Mr Barrientos told the court: “I approached the complainant, we started kissing, we took our clothes off.”
“It was amazing, I enjoyed it ... she was enjoying it too.”
Mr Barrientos said he gave the complainant a “love bite” on her left cheek and neck.
He said the complainant was “grunting and moaning in a good way”, adding she showed no indication of discomfort.
‘The vibes were good’
In his evidence, Mr Barrientos said “the vibes were good” once he and the complainant arrived at the InterContintal Hotel in the early hours of September 28.
CCTV vision shown to the court shows Mr Barrientos, his security entourage and the complainant arrive at the hotel at 3.52am.
Mr Barrientos is seen wearing a bright orange T-shirt, light wash blue jeans and Nike sneakers.
Seconds later, the group is seen entering the hotel lift.
Mr Barrientos said he and the complainant went straight into his hotel room.
“I believe (my security guard) followed us in ... he would have to get her phone if he didn’t get it in the car,” he said.
When asked why the complainant’s phone was taken away, Mr Barrientos replied: “It’s standard practice for someone in the limelight, I guess it’s to protect our privacy.”
‘Do you want to come home with me?’
Mr Barrientos told the court that he asked the complianant, “Do you want to come home with me?” about 10 minutes before he left Bar1 Nightclub.
Mr Barrientos said the complainant replied, “Yes.”
“Before I knew it, she was in the vehicle,” he told the court.
CCTV vision shown to the court shows Mr Barrientos being escorted into a private minivan with a security entourage a short time later.
Moments later, the complainant is seen following Mr Barrientos into the minvan.
“The vibe was good in the car overall,” Mr Barrientos told the court.
The vehicle arrived at the InterContinental Hotel about 30 minutes later.
Yung Filly takes the stand
British rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has taken the witness stand.
During his evidence, Mr Barrientos said he “fancied” the complainant when he first met her at Bar1 Nightclub.
“I was standing in the VIP, she was standing in the general area and she leant over the barrier, and she said something to me which I can’t remember,” he told the court.
“I fancied her, we got chatting.”
Mr Barrientos said he recalled putting his hand around the complainant’s waist, but denied putting his hand down her pants and touching her breast.
