A 36-year-old Geraldton man has been charged after Meekatharra police allegedly seized 100 individually wrapped ‘foils’ of cannabis along with a further 16 grams of the drug during a targeted traffic stop.

Police stopped the man on Great Northern Highway just south of Meekatharra shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday after a tip-off from a member of the public.

He was charged with possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell and supply and will face Meekatharra Magistrate’s Court at a later date.

Officer-in-charge at Meekatharra Police Station, Senior Sergeant David Hornsby, said it was a reasonably big seizure for a small town.

“It’s not huge, but it’s enough,” he said.

“The fact that that they’ve gone to the trouble of rolling it all out is an indication that it was not for their own use,” he said.
