Geraldton native Alex Ducas could feature as soon as this week in the NBA Summer League, after missing the first week due to injury.

The 23-year-old signed with NBA side Oklahoma City Thunder on a two-way contract, meaning he will be eligible to play in both the NBA side or its G-League affiliate OKC Blue.

Ducas had been dealing with a hip injury which ruled him out of the games in Utah last week.

However, the Geraldton product could feature this week, after the Thunder coaches elected not to play him, rather than being listed as injured in previous games.

Oklahoma City have had mixed results throughout the Summer League, with two wins and one loss in Salt Lake City, before going down to the Raptors on Sunday morning.

Ducas could feature in any of three upcoming games in Nevada, including Tuesday morning when the Thunder takes on Miami.

His signing with OKC came after five years of college basketball for the Saint Mary’s Gaels in California, becoming the college’s all-time leader in games played.

The Australian connection with Saint Mary’s runs deep, with Patty Mills, Matthew Dellavedova and Jock Landale among alumni to go on to the NBA.

The 23-year-old also took part in the Buccaneers’ drought breaking title triumph back in 2019.
