The Geraldton branch of the national youth mental health support service Headspace has stopped accepting new mental health counselling clients.

Geraldton office manager Fiona Stewart issued a statement today saying the wait list time was becoming unmanageable for young people.

“The ability for the small Headspace team in Geraldton to check in, support those waiting, and deliver a quality clinical service would be negatively impacted if we were not to take this action,” she said.

“We can continue to offer services for drug and alcohol counselling, community engagement and vocational support.

“Over the school holiday period we will be offering engagement group activities.”
