The wet and wild conditions were not enough to hold back the croquet diehards in Geraldton with the C and D-grade singles tournament still taking place last weekend.

With just three competitors in the C-grade and eight in the D-grade, players from both divisions played in a combined block over June 8-9.

The competitors came prepared and braved the wild conditions for the tournament.

Mary Van De Wyngaard won C-grade by a slim margin, claiming eight wins on the day with a net hoops of 22.

Her competition finished with close margins, with Jan MacSween taking eight wins with a net hoops of 17, and Jeanette Featherby taking seven wins with a net hoops of 21.

While in the D-grade, it was Red Stribley who took the win with a grade-high six wins on the day, finishing with a net hoops of eight.

Stribley had a strong finish in the singles tournament, dropping just two games in his grade to Cheri Cross and Lyn Murphy, while also picking up a win against C-grader MacSween.
