Wonthella Cellarbrations aggravated robbery details revealed by police after four accused appeared in court
Police say two women — a third and fourth accused — were linked to a getaway Toyota Corolla which was later falsely reported stolen during a Wonthella bottle shop robbery in which a shop assistant was assaulted.
About 6pm on Saturday, November 12, police allege Jasmine Lee Dalgety, 27 and Chad Kenneth Holland, 42 entered Cellarbrations in Wonthella and selected several items.
It will be alleged that they attempted to leave the store without making payment.
Detective Sen. Const. Joe Connolly said when a staff member challenged the accused, a 29-year-old woman sustained facial injuries and was taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital.
Police would allege the two accused fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla driven by a third person. The Geraldton Guardian understands the vehicle was allegedly falsely reported stolen by the fourth co-accused soon after the incident.
A Cellarbrations spokesperson said the suspects had only managed to get away with one bottle of liquor, but attempted to steal a full basket of goods.
“They tried to steal upwards of $500-$600 of stock, they filled the shopping basket,” he said.
Police appealed to the community seeking to speak with a man and woman who were captured on the store’s CCTV last week and arrested Ms Dalgety, who appeared from custody in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 15 charged with aggravated robbery. She will reappear on November 28 without bail.
Geraldton police searched for co-accused Mr Holland who was thought to be in the Geraldton area.
This Tuesday, Mr Holland was found and arrested at a Bookara address in the Greater Geraldton region — 10 days after the alleged robbery. He appeared in court that afternoon charged with aggravated robbery. He will reappear on December 19, with bail not considered.
Mr Holland is also charged with aggravated home burglary and stealing in relation to separate offences committed in Scarborough.
The two other accused — an 18-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated robbery, reckless driving and no authority to drive and a 41-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated robbery. Both women will reappear in court on December 15.
