Surf lifesaver allegedly attacked by man, 18, in horror Carrara home invasion breaks silence from hospital bed

A surf lifesaver attacked during an alleged horror home invasion on the Gold Coast has spoken from his hospital bed about the moment he confronted the alleged attacker in his living room.
Lucas Molon, 38, and his 46-year-old partner Elizabeth were woken by their dogs at their Carrara home by an alleged intruder, 18, early on Tuesday morning.
During the alleged altercation which followed, Mr Molon received multiple stab wounds – losing part of his nose.
“I didn’t feel it (the first stabbing),” Mr Molon told 7News from his hospital bed.

“But then, as we kept going, he kept going higher, until he cut me on the nose.
“That’s when I felt it happen.”
Elizabeth was also injured during the alleged fracas, he said.
Exclusive footage captured by 7News captures the moment the 18-year-old – who has since been identified as Dimitri Roussos – was arrested by police and placed into a blue forensic suit, before being taken to the Southport watch house.

Mr Roussos can be heard asking police “Can you get that guy out of here?” as cameras catch his arrest.
Asked by reporters why he is being arrested, Mr Roussos replies: “I don’t know. I don’t know anything. I don’t want to talk to you, sorry.”
He is facing charges of attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a category M weapon (knuckle dusters), enter dwelling with intent at night, attempt to enter dwelling at night, unlawful possession of explosive (ammunition) and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs (testosterone and cannabis).
Police allege the pair are not known to each other.

Investigators allege the same man was involved in a series of earlier incidents across the Gold Coast that morning.
At about 1.20am, police allege he attended the carpark of a fast-food restaurant on Hinkler Dr where he met a 21-year-old man he had spoken with on social media to buy four luxury watches.

Police allege the man threatened the 21-year-old with a knife and demanded the watches.
Police also allege at about 3.30am the same man attempted to enter a house on Pappas Way but fled after occupants heard noises and turned on a light.
The 18-year-old Carrara man has been charged with one count of attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a category M weapon (knuckle dusters), enter dwelling with intent at night, attempt to enter dwelling at night, unlawful possession of explosive (ammunition) and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs (testosterone and cannabis).
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

The attacker is suspected to have acted alone, according to detective inspector Mark Mooney.
Residents have been advised against confronting intruders, noting that several recent injuries occurred during such confrontations.
“My advice is just to leave them alone; do not confront them … property is not worth your life,” Mr Mooney said.
Police are urging anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.
