The final round of the North West Super Series rolled into the East Pilbara BMX Club in Newman on Saturday as the Pilbara’s best BMX riders battled it out alongside Perth and Geraldton racers. Geraldton’s Ryan Darcy finished first in the men’s superclass division, ahead of Hedland’s Ty Kilmartin and fellow Geraldton rider Liam Oldham. Darcy backed up his victory with a win in the 18-and-over race to leave Hedland riders Craig Rowles and David Whitney in second and third. Coming off a stand-out performance in round 11 of Hedland BMX, Bohdi Gregs was the hot favourite when he lined up on Saturday. Gregs continued his stellar form on the bike to take out the junior superclass rice while Karratha’s Luke White finished second and Jace Robinson took home the bronze. The Port Hedland champion took out the 15 to 17 men’s race over fellow Hedland BMX member Ty Kilmartin and Karratha’s Kade Milnes. Robinson did not walk away empty handed however as he took out the 14 boys race over Hedland’s Riley McGrath and Koby Hession. Corona Beckman from Wanneroo was victorious in the women’s superclass ahead of Gemma Rodgers and Angela Rushbrook. Kaylah Rushbrook took out the women’s junior superclass division to beat out Abbie Kiehne and Ivy-rose Dihm-Parsons. Rushbrook doubled down with a victory in the 15 girls division over Jazlyn Bray and Dihm-Parsons. It is a big month for WA BMX next month as the State Championships are held in Bunbury on September 30.
