Richtor Carlos Evans: Man allegedly threw family dog to ground after partner rejected having sex with him

A man has appeared in court accused of allegedly throwing a dog to the ground and stabbing his partner after she refused to have sex with him. Richtor Carlos Evans, 31, appeared via video link from Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with one count of animal cruelty and one count of unlawful assault causing bodily harm. The prosecution told the court that it was alleged that at 12am on April 29 in a Leonora residence, the man and female victim were lying in bed when he asked the woman for sexual favours — which she rejected. Mr Evans then allegedly pulled the victim off the bed and pushed her face down into the floor before she ran into a room where there were four young children. The prosecutor said it would be alleged that the man proceeded to grab a knife from the kitchen and approached the woman again, stabbing her and causing lacerations to one of her knees and hand. Mr Evans also allegedly picked up a small dog by its neck and held it up in front of the woman and the children, swung it over his shoulder and then proceeded to throw it to the ground, causing it to “whimper”. Police attended the house just after 1am where they allegedly found the dog wrapped in a blanket and unable to move. Mr Evans was arrested and taken into custody.
