Embrace Inclusion South West partners with Shelter Brewing for all-ability bogans and eshays dance party

A Busselton brewery is teaming up with a local volunteer community group dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion for an inclusive bogan-themed dance party. Shelter Brewing will open its doors for the Embrace the Beats Dance Party hosted by Embrace Inclusion Southwest on June 28. Patrons are encouraged to wear their best mullets and grab their best flannos and bum bags for the bogan and eshay-themed event. The four-hour party will include an air guitar competition, karaoke battles, a chill-out zone and sensory safe space, and giveaways. Embrace Inclusion Southwest members Kyah Mateo and Page Kinsey said they hoped to meet new people at this year’s events, with connection one of the highlights from last year’s party. “It was good to meet different people last year,” Kyah said. “(I’m) looking forward to it. It’s going to be a great event this year. Hopefully it’s a sold-out event and we get as many people together and celebrate.” “(There were) great people who joined us last year,” Page said. “Hopefully, a lot more people join and have a blast with us this year. I love organising the events and having fun with a great group of people.” Shelter Brewing assistant venue manager Mike Brooks said the event had been a success in the past and was one way the crew could give back to the community. “The atmosphere in the room was great (and) everyone really enjoyed it. It’s a real easy thing for us to do again this year,” he said Mr Brooks said the idea for the disco came about last year after the group approached the venue for a place where members could catch up on Thursdays, which they continue to do. City of Busselton mayor Phill Cronin said he attended the “great night out” last year and invited others to join the fun later this month. “This is a great night out, I should know as I attended last year,” he said. “I cannot believe the generosity of our local business community who have donated over $2000 in door prizes.” Tickets are available for $15 through OzTix.
