Charlotte Goodlet: Perth mum says life with her adorable newborn twins ‘double the joy, half the sleep’

Seven weeks in to life as a mum of three under three, Charlotte Goodlet already has a fair idea of how she’s going to handle the “beautiful chaos”.
Lean into it.
So for now, whether her days involve being trapped on the couch under her sleeping newborn twins, slow pram walks in search of coffee after a sleepless night or navigating a merry-go-round of toddler sickness, she is rolling with it.
“I keep reminding myself this is just a tiny phase in the scheme of things and it goes so quickly,” the 7News presenter told The West Australian this week.
“So I’m really just enjoying this chapter. And I just feel so lucky, I’m the luckiest mum in the world.”
Charlotte and her husband, former Sydney Swans star Kieren Jack, welcomed Clara Elizabeth and Hugo Mathew on August 29.
The twins were born at King Edward Memorial Hospital, with Jack delivering Clara in the shower before Hugo was born more than an hour later.

The adorable babies are being doted on by big brother Alfie, two, who Goodlet said refers to them as “his babies.”
“He’s so beautiful, he’s constantly kissing and hugging them. We’re very proud of him and how he’s handling it all,” she said.
“They are close in age, three under three is intense at the moment but it will be pretty special in the long run.”
After taking a few weeks off Jack has returned to his job at the West Coast Eagles, where he works in an off-field role, and the couple are looking forward to time off together over Christmas as a family of five.
The babies were born at 37 weeks, with Clara weighing 2.86 kg and big brother Hugo a healthy 3.54 kg, and Goodlet was relieved to have the babies in her arms after an exhausting pregnancy.
“As any mum knows, it’s hard being pregnant when you’ve got a toddler who doesn’t care when you want to have a rest on the couch,” Goodlet laughed.
“But I’m so thankful. They are amazing, it’s double the joy, half the sleep, but I feel more relaxed. It’s all going well in it’s own, chaotic way.”
In keeping with her approach Goodlet will take on hosting duties at the Telethon Ball this weekend, and Jack will be close by with the twins for when they need to be fed.
“I’m going to either be the last person standing or the first one to leave, but I’m so thrilled to be a part of it,” she said.
“I did my first Telethon last year after joining 7NEWS in Perth and it was one of the best weekends of my life. So I really made it my goal to be back.”
