‘CEASEFIRE’: Trump suspends planned bombing and attack on Iran
US President Donald Trump has completed a spectacular backflip, confirming he is suspending bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks if the Strait of Hormuz is immediately reopened.
“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!”
“The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.”
Iran responds to Trump’s ceasefire announcement
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has responded to US President Donald Trump announcing a two-week ceasefire with conditions.
“The enemy has suffered an undeniable, historic and crushing defeat in its cowardly, illegal and criminal war against the Iranian nation.
“Iran achieved a great victory and forced the criminal America to accept its 10-point plan, in which the United States is committed in principle to guaranteeing non-aggression, continuing Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, accepting enrichment, lifting all primary and secondary sanctions, terminating all resolutions of the Security Council and the Board of Governors, paying Iran compensation, withdrawing American combat forces from the region and stopping the war on all fronts, including against the heroic Lebanese Islamic resistance.
“We congratulate all the people of Iran on this victory and emphasise that until the details of the victory are finalised, there is still a need for perseverance and prudence on the part of authorities and for maintaining the unity and solidarity of the Iranian people.”
Reports Israel has also agreed to ceasefire with Iran
Reports have emerged that Israel, which is also at war with Iran, has agreed to a ceasefire too.
CNN broadcast the claim on US TV, claiming that an unnamed White House official has confirmed the development.
Neither the US nor Israel have issues a statement on this.
Iran’s State TV say Trump completing ‘humiliating retreat’
Moments after US President Donald Trump announced his agreement to a ceasefire, Iranian State TV was already attempting to control the narrative.
On IRIN, a host reported the US President’s Truth Social post, saying: “Trump announces two-week ceasefire accepting Iran’s conditions to end war.”
It then also spoke of “Trump’s humiliating retreat from anti-Iran rhetoric”.
Iran is yet to release an official statement on the ceasefire.
Has Iran agreed to the ceasefire?
At this stage, we know that US President Donald Trump has committed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, if Iran opens the Strait of Hormuz immediately, but Iran has not yet released a statement.
Negotiations have been taking place involving Pakistan, a long-time, close ally of Iran, so assumptions are that Iran has agreed to the proposal, but it has not yet been confirmed.

‘Workable’: Trump acknowledges 10-point proposal
US President Donald Trump says that he has received a 10-point plan from Iran, likely through mediators from Pakistan, that he believes is “workable”.
“We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate,” Mr Trump said while announcing the ceasefire of two weeks.
“Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated.
“On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution.
“Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Desperate plea for Trump deadline extension
Pakistani officials are pressuring the US to extend Donald Trump’s deadline so crucial diplomacy can be given more of a chance.
Pakistan has been acting as a key negotiator between the US and Iran.
The country’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to X to call directly on Mr Trump to give them more time.
“Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future,” he claimed.
“To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks.
“Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture.
“We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.”
‘Totally illegal’: Trump slams Iran's human shield tactic
As the countdown to his 10am AEST deadline continues, Donald Trump has criticised calls for Iranian civilians to gather around potential US and Israeli targets, describing the move as “totally illegal”.
Reports suggest crowds have formed near infrastructure such as power plants and bridges, with Mr Trump insisting such actions were not permitted.
Speaking to US media, Mr Trump also confirmed negotiations between Washington and Tehran were ongoing, saying the two sides were engaged in “heated negotiations”.
He added he was awaiting further briefings after Pakistan’s prime minister reportedly urged a two-week extension to allow more time for diplomatic talks.
‘Human chain’ formed by Iranians at potential US targets
Iranians have formed human ‘chains’ at power plants and bridges, according to footage posted by Iranian state media following US President Donald Trump’s threats to wipe out Iranian civilisation unless a deal is reached with Tehran.
The footage shows people standing outside of a power plant, linking arms, forming a “human shield” along the White Bridge in Ahvaz.
