Finals footy is here as minor premiers Adelaide take on Collingwood to kick off September action.

Can the Crows defend their home in their finals since 2017, having dominated the home and away season?

They won an arm wrestle in the penultimate round of the home and away season over the Pies, despite Collingwood dominating the stats sheet.

The Pies have brought back Mason Cox while a sore-looking Nick Daicos was cleared fit to play, and they will need to lean on their September experience at a hostile Adelaide Oval.

Half Time Collingwood 5.7 (37) Adelaide 5.1 (31)

Siren sounds and it’s on as both teams come together in a big melee.

Maynard in the thick of it of course while Keane was getting stuck into Membrey after some firey words.

A quarter of momentum as Crows had it kicked three goals and then lost it as Pies retook the lead to be up by a goal at the break.

Jordan De Goey had a massive quarter while Darcy Moore was a rock down back after some nervy moments.

The Crows at times have been a bit to eager to play on and go too quick and come unstuck.

Still anyone’s game, however.

Cameron with the dagger

Crows forced to defend but a 50 to Thilthorpe relieves the pressure.

But Adelaide plays on needlessly and Quaynor again launches the Pies as Cameron gets out the back.

He’s got three Crows after him but he doesn;t take possession and kicks it out of mid air to stab through a goal.

Momentum has swung firmly with the Pies.

COL 5.6 (36) ADE 5.1 (31)

Sidebottom the man

He had the sighter just moments ago that fell just short but as Quaynor launches the Pies off another intercept he gets another look from insdie 50 this time and slides it through.

ADE 5.1 (31) COL 4.4 (28)

Thilthorpe makes it three in a row

Mason Cox gives away a free in the middle and then gives away 50 for not giving the ball back in time.

Crows are out to a game-high 10-point lead and now the Pies need a steadier.

Pedlar gets the Crows in front

Luke Pedlar with a nerveless effort after Dan Curtin and Alex Neal-Bullen work it out on the wing with Neal-Bullen with an absolute dart kick to find Pedlar uncontested.

The Crows are coming.

Walker, the man again

A rush kick allows Walker to get sepeartion on Frampton and take just his second amrk insdie 50.

The kick looks suspect off the boot but works back to split the middle to get the Crows back to within two points.

Big goal fromt the Texan.

Crows are pouring on the pressure

Their delivery inside 50 has really let them down but the ball is living in their forward half ever since Elliot’s goal.

They’ve had the last seven inside 50s for no score including a horror set shot form Reilly O’Brien.

They have to make their pressure count

Elliott has his second

He hobbled to the bench with a knee complaint in the first quarter but he had no troubles booting his second from just inside 50.

It was off the back of a clearance win as the Pies get the early strike again.

COL 3.3 (21) ADE 2.1 (13)

End of Q1 Collingwood 2.3 (15) Adelaide 2.1 (13)

A hot start, as expected, with plenty of tackles not much free-flowing footy.

Darcy Cameron has been huge in defence with Collingwood taking 12 intercept marks to Adelaide’s two.

Nick Daicos was everywhere with eight touches and a goal to go with two clearances.

Riley Thilthorpe worked into the quarter but the Crows forward line haven’t quite got in sync yet.

It’s fairly even stats wise though the Pies were starting to rack up uncontested possessions as the game opened up.

Still along way to go in this one.

Mihocek with a horror miss

Free-flowing footy is at a premium with the Crows flooding numbers to defend.

But the Pies find some space on the outside and Mihocek wins a free close to goal.

But he almost misses his boot as it scrapes through for a point.

Clear cut chances are at a premium at the moment so you want to be taking them.
