Cricket: The Second Test is yet to really get running with rain only allowing 12.2 overs on day one but it was enough time for Scott Boland to strike.
The visitors called in Boland to join an all-pace bowling attack, with Nathan Lyon left out of the XI in Gqeberha.
Pat Cummins’ men hold a 1-0 series lead as they enter this clash under cloudy skies, with some rain forecast across the first couple of days of the Test.
Recap the action below.
That’s that
Play has been abandoned for the day as the rain shows no signs of going anywhere.
We got just 12.2 overs in for the day and Boland’s two wickets in two balls is all we get.
But we will be back tomorrow, where the weather again looks poor.
Goodnight.
Sprints
Some of Australia’s touring party who are not playing are doing some running on the outfield but the rain has gotten heavier again.
Getting worse
The rain has gotten worse since Tea was taken and we are running out of time to get more cricket in today.
Still some hope the weather gets better.
Tea taken
The rain continues to fall and the umpires have called for the Tea break.
Drizzle remains
The rain continues but it’s only heavy enough to keep the covers on.
Hope is once it stops they can get on fairly quickly.
No change
The rain has lessoned but is still falling so there’s been no change.
Weather updates say this evening should be dry but we won’t get much cricket before then.
Heavy covers on
The rain gets heavier and this may be a long break again.
Rain again
The drizzle comes down and Boland will be furious.
The Aussies got on a roll as soon as Scott Boland came into the attack.
Thick edge!
Boland gets another edge, this time from Bavuma.
But it falls short and goes through the gap between slip and gully.
SA 2-18
T20 update
The Australians completed the run chase against New Zealand with two wickets and seven balls to spare.
