Denmark’s Lights Beach Brewing celebrates its change of name with an open weekend of beer and dumplings

Lights Beach Brewing celebrated its change of name with a weekend of beer and dumplings at its brew shed in Denmark.
Formerly Ocean Beach Brewing, spokeswoman Krissy Low said the business had decided on the new name because it best reflected the image of the town and of the beer they produce.
“We changed name to Lights Beach Brewing in September because there is only one Lights Beach in the world, as far as we know,” she said.
“It’s also more uniquely Denmark and it reflects a true Southern Ocean beach — raw and rugged.”
It is normally a production-only brew shed, but it is permitted to host a handful of open weekends across spring and summer.
The first open weekend was from October 4-5 and was well-attended.
“It was a great weekend, we were absolutely packed both days and we had so many locals coming in to support us which was amazing,” Ms Low said.
“Patrons could enjoy the beers right where they are made.”

The brewery teamed up with Shaka’s Dumplings and will be planning future offsite events.
The business is a passion project brought to life by best friends Luke Low, who is the head brewer, Pete Chadwick and Megan Belcher and it opened earlier this year.
Mr Low started his working life as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic and progressed to beer making via homebrew, the Boston Brewery and the Hobart Brewing Company in Tasmania.
In Albany, Lights Beach beers are on tap at Sotao and in cans in bottle shops and at Albany Entertainment Centre.
