In football, the sport he is best known for, it would be called a recruiting coup.

A couple of years ago, talented sportsman John Sims made a “handshake agreement” with a mate, Lloyd Morgan.

Sims played his first game of lawn bowls for Mullewa and he blew Wonthella “out of the water”.

The 100-plus game and 1979 premiership player with WAFL club East Fremantle and six-time grand final coach with Rovers, Sims was at his best against his old club mates and on their dunghill.
