From high up in the sky, 100 Beaumaris Primary School students could be seen gathering to mark a very special countdown — 100 days to go until Telethon.
It was that same team-effort that saw the school in Ocean Reef raise thousands of dollars for the cause.
The primary school hosted a Tele-fun Takeover Day where the children dressed up in pyjamas, had a trampoline bounce-a-thon with the help of Boogie Bounce, as well having market stalls and a coin drive.
One of the classes even put on their own Telethon broadcast to teach the school about how donations like theirs help sick and disadvantaged children across the State.
Beaumaris Primary principal Christy Craig said the community event had been an amazing way to teach the kids about helping others.

“I think the more we talk about differences and what we can individually do as a collective effort, that’s so important for the kids to learn. That’s something we talk about all the time at school _ about being one of many, and how we all work together for a greater purpose.
“It’s been really great for us to have a goal to work towards.”
The school’s amazing fundraising efforts caught the attention of none other than Fat Cat himself, who surprised the students at their assembly to celebrate all things Telethon.
The kids had been campaigning for Fat Cat to visit their school by posting photos of the toy version of him being a part of the fundraising fun all term.
Their plan worked with his arrival sending excitement into overdrive as he dished out high-fives and hugs.
The furry companion even jumped on stage with the students to do what he loves most — dance.
“We had just been trying to fundraise a lot to make Fat Cat come here. I was so excited,” Year 6 student captain Evie Stabler said.
“I’m so happy we can fundraise for all of the children in need. We fundraised a lot to go to Telethon in previous years, so it’s become a tradition for us.”

The fundraising efforts at Beaumaris Primary are just one example of the many creative initiatives taking place across the State as the countdown to Telethon weekend begins.
There were more than 43,500 individual donations across the Telethon weekend last year, all going towards the record $90.1 million raised.
The Telethon extravaganza will take place on October 17 and 18 at RAC Arena and across the Perth CBD this year, bringing together the WA community for another unforgettable celebration of generosity, entertainment and hope.
As the 100-day countdown begins, West Australians are once again proving that when a community comes together incredible things happen.
