Adelaide has become the first minor premiers to go out in straight sets since 1983 with an ugly defeat to Hawthorn in the semifinal.

Recap all the action from Adelaide Oval with our blog.

Farewell!

We are one step closer to deciding this year’s premiers as Adelaide crash out in straight sets.

The Hawks will now take on Geelong next week in an incredible MCG preliminary final.

We will be back tomorrow for Gold Coast taking on Brisbane!

Until then, goodnight!

MATCH REPORT

The Hawks stunned while Adelaide go through two home finals without winning a single quarter.

Leading ball winners

Josh Worrell ends the match with the most disposals at 33 alongside 10 marks from half-back.

He was strong all night but it’s tough to get a winning score on the board from half-back.

Josh Ward was strong for the Hawks with 31 touches and five clearances in a night of redemption for the visitors.

Worth the trip!

An army of Hawks fans are still in Adelaide Oval celebrating their hearts out.

Full secotions remain decked in brown and gold and the party is sure to last the entire trip back to Melbourne.

FULL TIME: Adelaide 67, Hawthorn 101

The Hawks are Prelim final bound and will play Geelong!

Adelaide can be proud of their season but they let themselves down in September and will be left pondering what if.

Hawthorn set the tone, kicking the first two goals of the night inside 37 seconds and rarely looked back.

It’s unwanted history for Adelaide as they become the first minor premiers in the AFL era to go out in straight sets.

Last dance?

Taylor Walker has had a strong year but is this the last we see of big Tex?

The 35-year-old has struggled tonight and looked poor when the ball came to ground.

It’s done

Not even the most optimistic Adelaide fan has any hope left now.

The margin is out to 45 points with less than 10 minutes remaining.

And again, a simple missed handball from Fogarty turned the ball over and the Hawks did the rest.

The Crows will be better for the finals experince but it was clear the September intensity was more than they could handle.

Rachele!

The Crows are having a dip and Rachele might have a future in soccer if he wants it!

Adelaide’s forward line was open and the ball was kicked long towards the square.

Rachele was the first one back but not by enough to pick it up.

So, instead, he soccered the ball from the pocket for a great goal!

At the other end. Gunston now has five majors on the night.

THREE-QUARTER TIME: Adelaide 49, Hawthorn 79

It’s tough to see where the Crows can find the inspiration for a comeback.

Their work around the ground is falling down through skill errors and good pressure from the Hawks.

And for every good thing Adelaide does, Hawthorn have an answer.

The visitors lead the inside 50s and have been very good at earning scores from them while Adelaide have been wasteful.

Nicks needs to find away to ensure less scores have to come from half-back no matter how good Worrel has been.

Not going away

The Crows aren’t folding but finals intensity still looks a touch beyond this group at the moment.

Laird and Worrel are driving Adelaide forward off half-back but the home side’s midfield need to start getting some easier majors out of the clearance battle.

The Hawks lead the clearance count by three, the extras won at centre bounce.
